Volunteers make it possible for families, youth, and community members to find peace in difficult and stressful times.
The first step to becoming a volunteer at the Mediation Center is to attend a volunteer orientation session. Volunteer orientation sessions are offered in Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania Counties. You may attend any session regardless of where you live. At the sessions, you will learn more about the Mediation Center’s volunteer opportunities and the process for getting started.

Current Volunteer Needs:
Volunteer Visit Monitors
The Family Visitation Program (FVP) is a safe and comfortable place for children to visit and form healthy relationships with their non-custodial parent(s). FVP needs volunteers to supervise visits between non-custodial parents and their children. Our clients include families with a history of domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, mental health issues, and/or high-conflict parental situations. Volunteers gain valuable human service experience and work one-on-one with parents and children. There are convenient and flexible evening hours and training is provided in a warm, supportive environment. Undergraduate and graduate internship opportunities are available. No previous experience is necessary. If you are interested in volunteering please review and return the Volunteer Visit Monitor Job Description, Application and References (PDF Version: FVP Application) at the Mediation Center Volunteer Orientation session of your choice.
